Selling of Dinagyang kiosks starts Friday

The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) will start selling kiosks on Friday in line with the Dinagyang Festival 2014 that will have a two-day highlight on January 25-26.

This year, the foundation has increased its kiosks to 1,038 from 779 last year. Each kiosk measured 2.5X3 meters.

Rodolfo Villaruz, chairman on Kiosks Sales and Management Committee, said they have added kiosks along the streets of Guanco, Ledesma and Iznart apart from old kiosks' location along main streets of Valeria, Delgado, Solis and Casa Plaza in the capitol area.

He also said the rate of kiosks will depend on the area. He said kiosks along the capitol area costs P1,000; Guanco is P1,200 while other areas are P1,600 for the three-day affair including the electricity and additional fees for the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

Villaruz stressed all kiosks are on first come, first served basis and definitely, no reservation is allowed.

The chairman added they will be coming up with an "identification card system" to all the kiosk owners for easy monitoring to prevent reselling and sprouting of other unauthorized kiosks.

Last year, the chairman said they earned P1.1 million from kiosks alone apart from sponsorship.

Interested applicants may visit the City Tourism Office along Freedom Grandstand or call 337-3439 for more inquiries. (PNA)
