2013 Dinagyang Festival launching set on Sept 24

Beating of drums will soon fill the air here as the city government and its partner organizations, the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival Inc. (IDFI) and the San Jose Placer prepare for the take off of the 2013 Iloilo Dinagyang Festival.

A memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the city government here, IDFI and the San Jose Placer that compose the triumvirate will be signed this Sept 24 to highlight the launching of the festival.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) in its regular session Wednesday gave mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog authority to sign the agreement.

The Iloilo Dinagyang Festival is the city’s prime festival, a celebration in honor and thanksgiving to Senor Santo NiƱo. Next year the highlights are slated Jan 25-27.

City Tourism and Development Office (CTDO) head Benito Jimena said that they would like to work on the enhancement of the parade and performances of participating groups and tribes during the remaining two days as one of the proposed improvement for the staging of the festival. (PNA)
